Chairperson’s report

-

WE wish to thank the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Schools for according Founders High School this grand recognition — Secretary’s Bell. It is always good to be recognised for a job well done.

We also wish to thank the Founders Family for working together to produce excellent work and development. Credit must also go to previous administrations and teachers who have been to this school, their input led to where we are today. The previous SDCs did sterling work and passed the baton stick to us and hope future generations will maintain or improve Founders to the Founders we want.

In 2015 the SDC and the administration shared a common vision of marketing Founders which was done through the 63rd Anniversary on 26 September 2015 as well as various initiatives such as the historic twinning with Highlanders Football Club to groom our soccer players and Trust Academy for our students’ careers guidance and options for those who do not proceed to university.

Other partners include the NRZ, CBZ, Kingdom Hotel, Hwange Safari Lodge, Haddon & Sly Supermarket, Drillwell, Blue Ribbon Foods, Nyaradzo Funeral Services, Book Aid International, Astra Paints, Event Management Services and Catering, Fire Prevention Zimbabwe, Innscor, Lobel’s, Zimtile, Walter Muketiwa, Ingwebu Breweries, Hassamal’s, Insport, Tel-One, Gwanda University, Nust, Kango, Scandia wire, Vipsy Motor Spares, CA Convenant, Matanuska Marketing, Trish’s Boutique, Lingwe, Sunrise Marketing, Outspan Butchery, Mars, Esats Uniforms, Toppers Uniforms and Prendon.

The SDC ensures continuous engagement with parents and staff to ensure that effort is made in settling fees and levies. This also ensures that everyone at Founders High School play their part.

The other initiative was to form a former students’ body (the chairman being a former student). This chapter was launched on 30 April 2016 and named Founderians and Friends of Founders, Founders is a rich school which can accommodate over 1 600 students annually. This means former students are all over Zimbabwe and all over the world. They are willing to join hands and help the school in various areas.

The school has other income generating projects such as cafeteria, poultry and piggery.

Our focus now is to finish the durawall, to build a big library to accommodate all our students, renovate our classroom blocks, swimming pool and other sporting facilities such as football, hockey, rugby cricket, etc.

The school has the buy-a-brickfor-a-dollar project to support the construction of a library. Donations can be made to the school through cash and kind and receipts will be issued. There is no donation which is too small.

We, therefore, call upon all stakeholders such as partners, parents, donors, community to continue supporting the school.

Long Live the slogan FOUNDERS FIRST — FIRST FROUNDERS. By Shadreck Mdhlano SDC chairman and interim chairman of Founderians and Friends of Founders.
