Zanu-PF Midlands resolves squabbles

- Munyaradzi Musiiwa Midlands Correspondent

ZANU-PF Midlands Province has resolved its internal squabbles that had seen the emergence of parallel structures and the suspension of provincial chairman Cde Kizito Chivamba and now awaits the Politburo to deliberate on the fate of the provincial leadership.

The province also recommended lifting the suspension on Cde Flora Buka while that of Cde Francis Nhema remains shrouded in controversy.

Speaking after the Provincial Co-ordinating Committee (PCC) meeting yesterday, Zanu-PF Midlands provincial spokesperson Cde Cornelius Mpereri said the province was in April this year given three months to iron out their differences in the wake of parallel structures that had emerged in the province.

“As Zanu-PF Midlands Province we sat down and reviewed our progress. We are happy to report that we are now united because the reports were that there were two groups, running the province. We have ironed out our differences,” he said.

Midlands Province was given a three-month ultimatum to resolve its internal squabbles under the stewardship of Cde Joram Gumbo and deal with disciplinary issues that have seen parallel structures emerging in the province and the vote of no confidence being wantonly passed on each other by provincial executive members.

National Political Commissar Cde Saviour Kasukuwere announced the development in April saying the Politburo, which is the highest decision making board outside congress, had appointed Cde Gumbo to captain the province on an interim basis for three months and resolve the internal squabbles and factionalism.

The province had passed votes of no confidence on secretary for administration Engineer Tapiwanashe Matangaidze, Cdes Makhosini Hlongwane who was the commissar and Anastasia Ndlovu who is a national youth executive member.

The three also passed counter votes of confidence on Cdes Owen Mudha Ncube, Goodwill Shiri, July Moyo, Clarisse Mutambisi, Victor Matemadanda, Cornelius Mpereri, Justice Mayor Wadyajena and a Cde Chigaba.

Cde Kasukuwere also said the province should restore the old structures and resume commissariat meetings identifying grey areas before dealing with the issues that also include that of indiscipline.

Cde Mpereri said the province had made recommendations to the Politburo and National Disciplinary Committee pertaining to the suspensions of Cdes Nhema and Buka.

Sunday News is reliably informed that the province had recommended that the Politburo lift the suspension of Cde Buka after she showed remorse and reformation following her association with the Gamatox cabal.

However, Cde Nhema was still being assessed following unpleasant reports from his district.
