Bosso fret over Knox, Wits deal
BULAWAYO giants Highlanders FC have raised concerns over the decision by South Africa premier side Bidvet Wits to oversubscribe their foreign player quota.
Wits signed Bosso’s goal poacher Knox Mutizwa in July and information coming from the South African side is that the club oversubscribed their foreign player quota. Highlanders chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede confirmed the development.
“As Highlanders we are worried by Wits’ decision of oversubscribing their foreign player quota. In the event it happens our own Knox will be affected and as Bosso we don’t have any slot left and mind you the window also closed,” said Gumede.
Bosso lost two of their key players , Mutizwa to Wits and Bruce Kangwa to Azam of Tanzania during the midseason.
The Highlanders chief executive officer also confirmed that Azam had increased their offer for Kangwa although he could not divulge how much had been put on the table. “We have completed the transfer matching system (TMS) which is a process involving Tanzanian giants Azam, Zifa, us (Bosso) and the agent of the player. If we all agree to the deal then the deal will be completed,” said Gumede. Gumede also expressed happiness on Kangwa’s decision to write off the $5 000 the club owed him as signing on fees. “This is a type of player we want, we are really grateful for his gesture,” said Gumede. Meanwhile, the veteran administrator also lashed at the Zimbabwe Republic Police for allowing fans to throw missiles onto the pitch. “In each and every game we bring in 60 officers but fans continue to throw missiles onto the pitch and we haven’t seen the police acting. “We get fined $2 000 for the missiles like in this case we were fined $2 000 for missile throwing in the FC Platinum game,” said Gumede. Gumede challenged the police to forfeit their money since it is their duty to control fans in the stadia. “We do not condone any missile throwing.The police should bring the culprits to book since the club is losing such a heft amount for a banana peel,” said Gumede.
