Lee McHoney a new star rising

INSPIRED by the lal late music icons — Mbira Queen, America’s Jhene Aiko and AmA Ammara Brown, a Bulawayo-born up-andcoming coming songstress LeL Lee McHoney has her eyes set on shaking the showbiz industry.

Linda Nyauchi popularlyp­op known as Lee McHoney has always been passionate aboutaboou music and is now finally taking a stride in turning her dream iin into reality. A computer enng engineer by profession and with just a couple of tracks to her hher name, Lee McHoney has even managed to feature onn on oneo of Bulawayo rap star, Cal_vin’s track in her sttri strive to be the best.

“I adore those musical queens’ styles and I wa wantan to fuse what I have picked up from them. I venturedvv­en into the music industry this year and IhIIi I have collaborat­ed with a few popular names in the music industry. I have worked with Cal_ Vin,VVi Calvin Treazy where I feature on a track on hishi debut EP — Young and Getting It. So far I have a feew few tracks but one to note is the one that I did with a local producerpr­oduuc Msiz’ K, the track is called Just Say. I have other tracks that are aree yety to be released,” she said.

Lee McHoney hass has s so far only had a single live performanc­e but hopes to have an oppp opportunit­y to have more live performanc­es.

“My first live performanc­eperrfo was at the Chibuku Road to Fame competitio­n this year.yeaar I love singing and hope to perform more at other events,” she saaid said.

Being a computerr computer e engineer and pursuing a career in music, Lee McHoney said as sheshhe was yet to find a job she would follow her dream.

“I have a supportivv­e supportive family, they support my musical aspiration­s. I studied Computerr Computer E Engineerin­g at Fort Hare University in South Africa but I am yet yett tot find a job,” she said. Speaking about the music industry in Bu Bulawayo Lee McHoney said she felt it was improving.

“The industry haas has improved significan­tly over the years and I want to be a part of off theth people that will go down in history, as the ones who shaped it. it.. Th There is however an issue, being a woman in this industry isn’t qqu quite easy, most of the time guys overshadow you because they aree are c connected but I will make a name for myself,” she said.
