Marshal Chiza in record breaking book writing role

- Peter Matika Senior Life Reporter

WHAT may have started off as a simple hobby for young Marshal Chiza, who is probably Bulawayo’s youngest astounding author to emerge, has played out to be a barrier breaking and game changing profession.

His tale began this year when he launched his first book — Success in no Time, which ultimately led him to being perceived as the youngest author ever to have published a book.

At the age of 18, he has managed to pen two books, Success in no Time and Poor Billionaire, which he launched in Harare at the HICC yesterday.

Not only has Marshal been acknowledged as a force to reckon with in the field of motivational tutoring but he was recently ordained as a strategic minister in motivation under Faith in God Ministries.

Marshal’s rise to the top has also seen him landing international interviews with world news sources CNN and New York Times newspaper where he featured as one of Africa’s budding leaders of tomorrow.

In an interview with Sunday Life he said he never thought that he would be recognised as a life changing person.

“I grew up in a family of three, I’m the second born, I was just a simple boy who grew to be a gentleman. I grew up in a family that believed that success is for a select few and I just knew by heart that I’m among the few. My role is to drastically change the way most people think. Unfortunately the society we live in today believes that for one to be an author, you have to be 30 years plus . . . but here I am to prove a point that age is not a barrier for you can explore your dream soon if you set your mind to it. If I wasn’t 18 today I wouldn’t be celebrated the way I’m being celebrated. But I’ve since realised that success is just doing something different according to people’s expectations,” he said.

His latest book — Poor Billionaire translates your initial curiosity into a well-rounded delivery of information and wisdom.

This may be the most important book you have ever read. Money is not e ve r y t hing , but money is something very important. Beyond the basic needs, money helps us attain our life’s targets and goals, the things we care about most deeply like our family, education, health, charity, adventure and fun.

“When we don’t have it, we often believe that money will make us happier. When we do have money, however, we tend to want more. The odd thing that we all know is that money cannot buy happiness and money cannot heal any soul. But unfortunately, we’ve been steeped in a society so heavily mediated that we have started believing the lies. There is absolutely nothing inherently wrong with money. We all need money. “It’s just that when we put money and possessions first, we lose sight of our real priorities and life’s purpose. One of the ways a wise man can be identified is by the way he handles money. Wisdom is not discerned by the amount of money one possesses, but by one’s attitude towards money, by the way it is acquired, and by the way it is used,” said Marshal. Poor Billionaire therefore focuses on issues which we face on our day to day lives. “One can be rich, but be poor mentally, the inbuilt riches which every person carries and understands that money is not everything,” he said.
