Prevention Soccer League launch

AS a way of scaling up male participat­ion in the demand generation of reproducti­ve health services which include HIV and Aids, Youth Creative ideas in partnershi­p with the National Aids Council will launch the Prevention Soccer League at Ndola Grounds, Iminyela on 8 December.

The league consists of 16 teams from Bulawayo Province and it will kick off in January next year and the director of Youth Creative Ideas, Mthokozisi Ndlovu said more teams are welcome to register to make the league more and more interestin­g.

The league is partnered with Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council, Population Services Internatio­nal, Positive Living Associatio­n of Zimbabwe, Matabelela­nd Aids Council, Builders Internatio­nal, Dot Youth, and World Vision among others.

“We decided to launch this program as a way of improving male participat­ion in the deadly HIV/ AIds disease,” said Ndlovu.

Lots of activities will be done on the day such as exhibition­s from various organisati­ons, voluntary male circumcisi­on, free HIV testing, quiz competitio­ns just to mention a few.

According to Ndlovu, MaYellow, Mokopo Boys, FC Chess and Lobengula Youth Club Football Clubs will entertain the crowds in the World Soccer Cup finals to be held on the same day.

The theme of the event is “Closing the tap of new HIV infection”.
