Zinhle Ngidi released on bail

-

SINGER Zinhle Ngidi has been released from police custody after posting R1 000 bail on Tuesday.

Zinhle was arrested after allegedly slapping a Metro Police officer on Monday. She spent the night in a cell at John Voster Police station and appeared in the Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

She is due to return to court on 25 January. Speaking to The Juice Zinhle said that she is still in “shock”. “I’ve always heard about these things, but I’ve never been involved in something like this before. If she (the Metro Police officer) did this to me, imagine what she could do to someone else, younger or an elderly person.”

Zinhle called the Metro Police officer’s behaviour, “appalling”.

Zinhle admits to slapping to the Metro Police officer out of self defence. According to the Shumaya hitmaker the officer allegedly pushed her mother, and slapped Zinhle in the face, which prompted the local singer to clap back.

According to Zinhle her phone broke during the scuffle with the officer. “The officer told me to shut my big mouth,” Zinhle added.

Talking about her experience at the police station, Zinhle says, “It was very bad from the beginning. We were told that we were not allowed to open a case against the Metro Police officer.”

She went on to say, “The Metro Police officer walked into the SAPS police station and wrote her own statement.”

According to the Zinhle, the magistrate was fair and will review video footage from bystanders and other evidence before her next court date. — Online
