-

WHAT an achievement! Established in 1987 to offer good quality education to the Gweru community, so much has happened since then! Our reach is now far beyond Gweru with students coming from all over Zimbabwe, Southern Africa and even England! What a privilege it is to be able to have the opportunity to impact so many lives. At Midlands Christian College, we aim to mould students into what is reflected in our Eagle’s Creed: MCC Eagles’ Creed I am a focused Eagle God is at the centre of everything I do. I am a responsible citizen, teachable, secure and adaptable.

I am a critical thinker, an exemplary leader and a confident team-player. I engage in a healthy, physically active lifestyle. I am an eagle and I ride the storm. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle. My Eagle, My pride. This is education with a difference and education for life! In addition to this, we are also committed to all Midlands Christian College students having a qualification in English, Mathematics, Science, Computing and a technical subject such as Art, Design and Technology, Fashion and Design or Agriculture. Various strategies are in place to ensure that these goals are met.

Our students can sit for examinations with the following examination boards: Cambridge; Zimsec; Computer Society of Zimbabwe; Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music; Oxford Cambridge & RSA and Hanban Institute.

Midlands Christian College has received international accreditation with the Association of Christian School International, joining 1 200 other accredited schools worldwide and membership of the association with 25 000 other schools worldwide.

Accreditation status has to be maintained with regular reports and visits from team members, but all of this holds us accountable to: continuous school improvement; the meeting and maintaining of international standards; remaining true to our biblical core values and mission and that we continue to advance our Christian distinctive.

Midlands Christian College also works closely with the Confucius Institute of Zimbabwe and has a Confucius Classroom in association with the University of Zimbabwe.

As such, all students have the opportunity to learn Chinese and Mandarin, sitting for examinations with the Hanban Institute.

Also through this association students have had the opportunity to take part in International Bridge Competitions in China and attend Summer School at Renmin University in China. In the past two years, nine of our students have been to China through this association.

We have a full Extra Mural programme of sports and clubs which pupils are expected to take part in.

The exposure and life skills learnt through involvement in this area stands our students in good stead for life beyond school.

Our Senior Debate team is the current cup holder for the Association of Trust Schools. In a Lego Zimbabwe Robotics challenge held in December, our robotics team won the practical challenge and was voted the most organised and professional team of the tournament. Our school band came second in the Musica — St Johns College Battle of the School Bands competition and had the privilege of being invited to perform on the main stage at a function co-ordinated by the Italian Embassy.

On the sporting front, one of our star athletes, Tiniel Tapfuma, who obtained five medals at an international athletics meeting in Zambia last year had the privilege of attending an athletes training camp held in Jamaica in December with input from top Jamaican coaches and The Legend himself — Usain Bolt.

In 2016 Midlands Christian College had twenty national representatives across Athletics, Boys and Girls Hockey, Rugby, Boys and Girls Basketball, and Soccer.

Our Life Skills Department runs a vibrant programme with a series of camps such as the Form One Orientation Camp which happens in Victoria Falls, the Form Three Life Skills Camp that happens in Nyanga and the Lower Six Leadership Camp in Marondera. In addition to these camps, we also run Mother-Daughter, Father-Son camps and special outings for different age groups. We believe in creating opportunities for lasting impact and true life impact.

We have a rich history, and believe that Midlands Christian College has an even brighter future. For those wishing to join us, contact us on admissions@mcc. ac.zw and we will send you all the relevant information.
