Masvingo chair reinstated

- Walter Mswazie in Masvingo

THE ruling Zanu-PF leadership in Masvingo has reinstated Cde Ezra Chadzamira as the chairman replacing Cde Amasa Nhenjana who has been acting in that position.

The decision was taken during a Provincial Co-ordinating Committee (PCC) held at the Showgrounds in Masvingo yesterday.

Cde Chadzamira was suspended in February last year together with other chairpersons Cdes Kizito Chivamba (Midlands) and Joel Biggie Matiza (Mashonaland East) for alleged disobedience and inciting insolence. The official hand over of the chairmanship was done in the presence of the provincial executive, Politburo and Central Committee members in Masvingo with Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Cde Senator Shuvai Mahofa praising the move.

“I would want to congratulate Cde Nhenjana for the job well done. He worked tirelessly during his tenure as acting chairman but the PCC has decided to reinstate Cde Chadzamira to his original position as substantive chairman. He was exonerated of any wrong doing and we have been waiting to receive communication on the way forward (from the National Executive) but Masvingo felt it has taken too long. This is the decision of Masvingo PCC and we want to thank and hope Cde Chadzamira will continue with the work of uniting the party in Masvingo,” said Senator Mahofa who is also in the Politburo.

Cde Chadzamira said he welcomed the decision to reinstate him as the provincial chairman adding that it was done collectively by the PCC.

“I have been retained by the provincial executive committee, it was not an individual decision but a collective one. I was exonerated by the National Disciplinary Committee last year. They have seen it fit to reinstate me and I am happy to continue leading the party in Masvingo,” said Cde Chadzamira.

He said the province through the provincial electorate directorate has also accepted CVs from 11 candidates who want to represent the party in Mwenezi East by- elections.

“On Mwenezi East by-elections preparations, 11 CVs have been accepted by the PED after five candidates were disqualified for not meeting the criteria,” he said.
