Do something about Deka road

-

I WILL continue to push my pen until something happens. There is no attention that is being paid to my distress call to rehabilitate Deka Road in Hwange hence I will not rest my pen until the road is upgraded.

The once smooth road is now punctuated by potholes which are potential causes of accidents. The potholes are multiplying at an alarming rate with no solution.

The low lying bridges have a negative impact on both motorists and passengers. During the rainy season, water flows over the bridges making it difficult for motorists and pedestrians to proceed to their destinations. Particular attention should be given to the bridge at Mwemba village near the shops. Still at Mwemba, there is a deformed bridge that needs attention near Club 20. There is also a stream at Makwa which blocks traffic due to flooding. The name of the stream is Gongobyo. A high profile bridge needs to be built at that point. The same problem applies to the Deka Bridge. Upgrading of the bridge is long overdue. To add salt to injury, all the bridges along this road are very narrow hence rendering them death traps.

The condition of the road at the mines makes my blood boil. The road was totally destroyed by heavy duty trucks and other mining activities at the mines and nothing is being done to rehabilitate the road. As I make this submission a dam has been formed on the road and motorists are using a detour road.

There is more to it than meets the eye. This road needs attention with the urgency it deserves. I shall not stop pushing my pen until something happens. Lawrence “The Penpusher” Moyo, Hwange.
