I’m glad to be back: Gaule

- Robin Muchetu Senior Reporter

FORMER Senator for Tsholotsho Cde Believe Gaule says he is grateful to be back in Zanu-PF and is ready to hit the ground running once he has been allocated a position within the Matabeleland North provincial leadership.

Cde Gaule was recently accepted back into the provincial leadership at a Provincial Co-ordinating Committee meeting that was held in Lupane. The co-option followed a recommendation by the Zanu-PF Tsholotsho District.

“I appreciate the gesture by the PCC to accept me into the provincial leadership. I respect all the people especially those from Tsholotsho who saw it fit that I be reintegrated into the party structures. I promise to work well with them again,” said Cde Gaule, a former Tsholotsho District Co-ordinating Committee chairman who lost his position when he was fired from the ruling party in 2004.

Cde Gaule said his elevation to a yet to be named position means he has to work harder.

“I see this new role I have assumed as a call for duty, it means I have to work hard to ensure the province develops. I feel I have to deliver and produce results not to bask in the glory of being in a leadership position,” he said.

Cde Gaule paid tribute to Professor Jonathan Moyo who he said has been a co-operative member of the party in Tsholotsho.

“I worked well with Prof Moyo from the time I was the District Co-ordinating Committee chairman. We started many developmental projects together that changed the face of Tsholotsho and we still want to carry forward that good working relationship for the benefit of Tsholotsho and the province as a whole.”

He also said he will maintain the cordial relations which he has with other senior leaders in Matabeleland North such as Advocate Jacob Mudenda and Cde Thokozile Mathuthu whom he said have moulded him into what he is today.

Asked on whether he had intentions of contesting in the primary elections in 2018, he said that depended on the people of Tsholotsho.

“If the people choose me I will go for it but with the current status I am happy where I am and I will not contest, only if the people nominate me will I go ahead. I have not rejoined the party to seek a position but I am here because I love Zanu-PF and also want to assist in pushing forward its programmes which are pro-people. I have no ambitions of seeking high positions, for your own information I have great respect for those who are representing us in Parliament,” he said.

Cde Gaule said as a party they will work with those that will have been nominated to stand and ensure that they win the elections. He said the people of Matabeleland North also have to benefit from the natural resources that are found in the province such as timber and wildlife. He also said the people need to have more grazing land.

“We have to increase the grazing land for our people, they survive on cattle ranching too so we should help them,” he said.
