ACCA offers O and A-level graduates a lifeline

-

HAVING recently rece ived examination results the key challenge is how to map the way forward to secure a rewarding career in accounting and finance. A new challenge presents itself in that those that did not achieve results sufficient to secure a place in any of the prestigious local higher educational institutions may feel frustrated and out of affordable viable options.

With the rising costs of tertiary education and limited spaces available for courses in accounting and finance at higher institutions of learning alternative flexible career paths for people of ambition and ability are required.

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) provides a solution to this problem by delivering professional accountancy training that is both flexible and cost effective and caters for individuals from all backgrounds.

The added bonus for all school leavers is that the ACCA qualification has embedded in it the possibility of getting a UK University degree from Oxford Brookes University in Accounting and Finance as well as the coveted Chartered Accountant status that secures recognition and career options internationally.

Regardless of whether the student has passed or failed at Ordinary or Advanced level, the ACCA is able to craft a flexible career path from any level that ensures that the individual fits into a cost effective and time saving career path.

As the global body for professional accountants, ACCA has always aimed, since it was established in 1904, to make the accountancy profession accessible to anyone who has an interest in finance, for people of ability and application.

ACCA provides routes into the profession for everyone, regardless of location or qualification. This involves providing the opportunity for people from all backgrounds to prove that they are capable of passing ACCA’s examinations and meeting its other requirements for admission to membership. ACCA has a long tradition of open access to its qualification, reflected in its core values, which are opportunity, accessibility, flexibility, quality and integrity.

The ACCA qualification is designed to provide the accounting knowledge, skills and professional values which will deliver finance professionals who are capable of building successful careers across all sectors — from private to public in practice or as a small business.

The quality and integrity of the ACCA qualification is maintained by implementing rigorous and challenging exams. The ACCA professional qualification requires students to complete two levels of examinations, which is 14 papers in total, and obtain three years of relevant work experience. The depth to which ACCA covers the competencies required across the entire financial value chain is unrivalled.

The experience element requires students to demonstrate competence in a range of activities. The successful completion of the examination, experience requirements and completion of the professionalism and ethics module entitles an individual to become an ACCA member.

ACCA takes a complete approach to training and developing ACCA qualified finance professionals. We ensure that our students become complete finance professionals. And we know this approach, this way of doing things works, as we now have more than 420 000 students worldwide, all seeking a rewarding career in finance.
