No to school fees increases

-

MOST parents in Zimbabwe were left stranded to hear that some schools had increased their school fees even though there was a warning statement from the ministry of Primary and Secondary Education instructing all the school headmasters not to increase school fees for this second term.

Some disappointed parents said they got some calls from their schools reminding them not to ever try to board school buses unless the full school fees payments are made before the beginning of this second term. These schools are now taking advantage of such empty threats from the ministry to increase their fees. It surprises me so much that up to now no school has been punished for defying the directive by the ministry not to increase the school fees and levies.

Many parents are struggling with life at the moment since our economy is not performing well. Parents are not getting their normal salaries a result of companies which are struggling to make profits and some of them are getting half salaries as companies are trying to save the little they have and this has left most parents failing to raise the required exorbitant school fees, rent and to take care of the electricity as well as water bills.

I hope the government will intervene and stop all increase in school fees and other levies because the parents cannot afford because things are just difficult for most parents. As if that is not enough it is also very hard to get or access cash in most banks in the country and for the past month or so a lot of parents were sleeping in bank queues trying to with draw some money for school fees and other services.
