Look like a million bucks on a budget

-

SOCIAL media has taken over the world and it happens to be influential in people’s fashion choices and buys. INSTAGRAM! It has the ability to make your day if you get a lot of likes on a picture or even ruin your day when you see other girls’ chic outfits. It’s okay to look for fashion inspiration but sometimes it’s depressing to see the shoes other people own (or at least borrowed for the pic), the bags and gorgeous dresses, makes you want to refocus your fashion goals or deactivate your account.

If you cannot afford designer clothes but want to look expensive or like a million bucks this article is a definite read. The way you put your outfit together can make a huge difference, ever seen people in expensive clothes from head-to-toe but because they fail to co-ordinate the colours or texture it looks a mess. You can still look chic on a budget. This is how to look like a million bucks on a budget: Buy quality clothes (accessories) Just because you are limited on funds, don’t skip on quality. Most people focus on quantity rather than quality but if it’s cheap, chances are it won’t last long due to wear and washing. Instead buy a great quality item at a higher end store. The good thing about quality items they will last for years because they are well made. If you’re looking to buy a certain piece and you really want it, wait until it’s on sale. You can save lots of money for items on sale. (the only problem with things on sale most times they are rejects but we will definitely buy those sissy boy jeans on sale). If you are going to spend money on a piece, spend it wisely. When you buy an item for your wardrobe, make sure it is well-made and is a quality piece. Structured BAGS are a must When you see a woman who looks poised and polished, she almost always is carrying a structured bag. Bags ALWAYS complete an outfit, just as much as your make-up and OTHER stuff. A structured bag will give the outfit an “expensive” look. Carry the right size bag, if it’s a clutch do not stuff it till it can’t close, rather carry s ome t h i ng bigger. A lady mu s t carry a cute bag to complement he r outfit of the day.

Have you noticed that classy women or those with the dollars don’t dip their faces in make-up to get a clown like appearance? I doubt it’s ever anyone’s intension to look clowny but make-up can really cheapen your look. Wear make-up that looks natural and wear lipcolor that works well on you. Keep your hair well kempt, clean and tidy. You do not necessarily need to have a Peruvian weave to look expensive, some women pull off cornrows or even short hair in a chic way.

Keep your hands moisturised and nails on fleek. Chirped nail polish or broken nails does not shout EXPENSIVE. Smell nice all the time, it makes a huge difference.

Black is a neutral colour, it goes with everything. Since it is a solid colour it co-ordinates with other colours and patterns. When we think of the colour black, Victoria Beckham comes to mind. Black is always trendy, it isn’t the funerals dress code anymore (thanks goodness) as people are wearing more colour to funerals. Make sure the shades of black or textures work well together. There is something mysterious about a woman in all black and sunglasses.

Wear sunglasses and you’ll look cool and collected! Perhaps the images of celebrities wearing beautiful sunglasses have been an influence to us to wear them. The fancier the sunglasses help make your outfit look expensive. Pointed heels or flats Women who wear flats or heels that are pointed have a look that screams expensive! Black or nude are popular colours that go with everything. They are considered wardrobe essentials. Shoes really matter, if your shoe is off you might as well forget looking like a million bucks because the look will be incomplete.
