Ban hooligans from soccer

-

THE ABANDONMENT of the high profile match between the country’s two biggest football clubs was a huge blow and embarrassment to the whole football fraternity including the sponsors.

This incident should be condemned by everyone as this is sending a very bad message to the whole world about Zimbabwean soccer.

I feel it is high time the Bulawayo City Council install some CCTV cameras at Barbourfields stadium so that it becomes very easy to identify and flush out all those elements who are causing violence at the stadium.

It is so disappointing that hooliganism at most stadiums is increasing but the owners of these grounds are doing nothing to make sure that violence is reduced or stopped permanently.

If stadiums like Barbourfields and Rufaro can be fitted with cameras that will be a good move because as it is now not a single person has been arrested for causing the abandonment of the exciting match which could not go beyond half time.

The decisions by our referees might not go the way we want as supporters but it is then wrong to force the match to be abandoned.

I am surprised because some supporters go to the stadium already under the influence of alcohol which makes it very impossible to accept the referee’s decisions.

As followers of soccer and sponsors we hope all those who caused some unrest at Bourborfeilds stadium will be identified and charged for their conduct.

I suggest that they must even be banned for life from entering any stadium to watch the matches in Zimbabwe.
