AFM Church donates to flood victims
THE Apostolic Faith Mission Church has donated clothes, blankets and household goods to people who were affected by floods in Tsholotsho District.
The church’s Bulawayo North province donated the goods in Bulawayo on Wednesday.
The goods were received by Minister of State for Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs Cde Cain Mathema, Tsholotsho District Administrator Mrs Gladys Zhou and Tsholotsho Rural District Council chief executive officer Mr Themba Moyo.
Speaking at the handover ceremony AFM president Dr Aspher Madziyire said the church was touched by the plight of the affected people.
“When we as AFM in Zimbabwe heard through the media that floods have left a trail of destruction in Tsholotsho we felt an obligation to chip in as part of our social responsibility and biblical mandate,” he said.
“We were then reminded of what the scripture says in 1 Corinthians 13 vs 1 ‘Though I speak with tongues of men and of angels and have not charity, I become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal.’ Not wanting to sound like brass or tinkling cymbals who play no part in charitable deeds, the AFM church in Bulawayo North province organised itself and called for donations from among its membership.”
Cde Mathema thanked the church for the support adding this will go a long way in helping the people who are camped at Sipepa.
