A 26-YEAR-OLD Bulilima man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself following hallucinations where he claimed to be seeing goblins.

Chief Madlambuzi said Foreman Dube (26) of Hingwe area was recently found hanging by a wire in a field near Maitengwe Border Post.

“There is a man from my area who was found hanging from a tree by people who were passing by. Before he took his own life, Foreman was constantly complaining that he was seeing goblins.

“He was claiming that they were chasing him and strangling him. It is suspected that this experience could have frustrated him up to the extent that he decided to end his own life. It’s still unclear what was causing these hallucinations,” he said.

Foreman’s father, Mr Phorisa Dube said on the day he died, his son fled from home in the morning claiming that there were goblins that were chasing him.

He said Foreman was stopped by villagers who counselled him and urged him to go back home. Mr Dube said his son however, did not proceed home but was later found hanging from a tree.

“My son was always complaining that he was seeing goblins but I’m not sure what was really going on. My daughter once complained of the same problem a few months back. The ordeal left her ill but she has since recovered.

“On the day he died my son woke up in the morning and bolted out of the house. I didn’t see him myself by my other children saw him. He ran for about a kilometre screaming that goblins were pursuing him.

“Some villagers caught up with him and calmed his down. Instead of returning home he hanged himself,” he said.
