PSL staffer Zanele Siziba passes away

CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) executive secretary for southern region Zanele Siziba who died at Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo last Thursday morning was buried yesterday at Umvutshwa Cemetery.

Siziba (41) who had been battling cancer is survived by her husband Pikiso Siziba and two children, Karen and Simon.

Shingirai Siziba who was closely related to Zanele said she was admitted to Mater Dei on Tuesday and passed on two days later.

Siziba, who was born on 19 November 1976, joined the PSL in March 2000 as an executive secretary a position she held until the time of her death.

In a statement PSL communicat­ions and media liaison officer Kudzai Bare said: “After, having worked for the league for more than 16 years, Mrs Siziba will always be remembered for her passion and commitment to her work. She was highly regarded by everyone who had the chance of working with her. Her service and contributi­on to the Premier Soccer League and football in general will forever be cherished.”

PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele said, “We worked with her for 17 years and that’s says a lot about her as an individual. She was a respectabl­e woman who had values. The late Mrs Siziba was also a devoted Christian and mother.”

Mrs Nozile Funwayo, sister of the late Mrs Siziba, said she will be greatly missed as she had left a big gap in the family.

Bulawayo City football club chairman Jerry Sibanda said Siziba was very helpful in linking the PSL in Bulawayo and Harare.
