Midlands Education consultanc­y firm launched

TWO renowned educationi­sts from Gweru, Messrs Stanley Muringi and Charles Dzimba have formed a first-ever education consultanc­y company to offer education advisory services to private schools in the Midlands province.

The company, Midlands Education Consultanc­y, offers educationa­l and administra­tive advisory services to school heads, school developmen­t committees (SDCs), parents and other learning institutio­ns on corporate governance, transparen­cy and accountabi­lity.

Messrs Dzimba and Muringi said the Gweru-based company will assist in enhancing learning and teaching methods for private colleges as well as increasing accessibil­ity of basic education to the less privileged children and repeaters.

Speaking during the launch of the company, Mr Muringi who boasts of 44 years of experience in the education sector says the company is aimed at improving the quality of education in the province.

“When we formed the consultanc­y our aim was to create a difference in the education sector. We want to bring in fresh ideas that will help in pass rate increase, good management of school funds and to also help in making education easily accessible to both the young, old, the poor and the rich,” said Muringi.

Speaking during the same function as well, Mr Dzimba said the company is receiving lot of support from Midlands Independen­t Colleges Associatio­n (MICA).

“We have also engaged the Midlands Independen­t Colleges Associatio­n (MICA) and they are fully supporting our vision. We want to help schools produce competent results at national level. We will also assist in making sure that educationa­l institutio­ns employ qualified and profession­al personnel,” said Dzimba.

Before starting their consultanc­y, both Messrs Dzimba and Muringi had been serving in the Ministry of Education for 44 years.

Mr Dzimba was a teacher at Makaru Girls’ and Mangula Secondary Schools before being a lecturer at Mkoba Teacher’s College.

He became the Education Officer in the Midlands Province before becoming the Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Education responsibl­e for sports.

Mr Muringi who also has a vast experience in the education sector started as a teacher a Kutama before becoming the Headmaster at Ascot and Guinea Fowl High Schools.

He also served as an Education Officer for Gweru district as well as the Provincial Inspector in the nonformal education.
