I am a strong person: Miss Zim
A LOT of negativity was said about her on social media after her crowning as Miss World Zimbabwe. However, this was not the first time people have rubbished a crowned queen.
This has however, not affected the reigning Miss World Zimbabwe, Chiedza Lorraine Mhosva. She said the negative talk about her beauty has made her realise how strong she was and that she can take on anything that comes her way.
“For all the negativity coming from different people, I am very grateful because they made me realise that those who stand by me are genuine people who believe in me,” she said.
She said each and every model should be able to see beauty in so many different ways and should be ready for what society will throw at them.
“Like our chairperson Mrs Mary Mubaiwa Chiwenga always says, you are a queen in your own right, surely every girl is uniquely beautiful and no matter what the world says every girl should be proud of how she looks,” she said.
Mhosva said being the reigning queen was an amazing experience for her. She said she was happy to be part of an organisation that is helping her develop her skills and take on challenging responsibilities.
“I am driven to set a valuable example to the Zimbabwean girl child. Philanthropical work is one of my passions and I’m dedicated to excel in it starting with my Beauty with a purpose project,” she said.
During the Miss World Zimbabwe, Chiedza got a lot of support from her church. She said the church has played a big role in her life.
“I cannot express enough gratitude to my church family as they have moulded me into this precious young lady. May God continue to bless them and I would like to continue learning and growing spiritually from them.”
Last Tuesday, the crowned models received their prizes from the Miss Zimbabwe Trust at their offices in Highlands, Harare. Chiedza received $20 000 prize money and she has donated $10 000 to her Beauty with a Purpose project, a cancer awareness project which targets the Doma people in Kanyemba under Chief Chapota. Mhosva will also enjoy $1 000 local holiday allowance courtesy of Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) and she will also be attached to the Big Time Strategic Group for a year with a salary and full benefits.
In addition Mhosva received a business class air ticket to travel to China for the Miss World pageant to be held on November 18 and a wardrobe for the Miss World courtesy of Lachelle and prominent designer Spero Villioti will do her garment for the finals.
All the finalists were given $1 000 for participating at this years’ pageant. The Beauty with a Purpose project is the most important at the Miss World finals as it constitutes more than 50 percent of the total marks.
