EMTHUNZINI weThemba Children’s home in Bulawayo yesterday received donations worth $2 800 from Holiday Inn Bulawayo and Dream Achievers.

Holiday Inn made the donation under the banner International Hotels Group (IHG) Foundation, which gives back to the community. The theme of the foundation is “Making local communities better places to be for all”.

Speaking during the donation, Holiday Inn Bulawayo general manager Mr Chiku Mulinde said: “IHG has set aside a charity foundation which raises funds for unfortunate incidences in the world. Every year we visit Entembeni to give them a Christmas lunch and this year we are also going to invite this home. I also had an encounter with some of the children here and they look intelligent. We adopted one child last year in Beitbridge, who had done well in Grade Seven examinations and we sponsored him. This year we are also looking for an intelligent student whom we can adopt, but we expect the child to come back and develop this home, as well as looking after his younger sisters and brothers.”

The hotel donated groceries, towels and plates. The foundation was established in 2016 to show the power of hospitality to transform lives for the better. Dream Achievers founder, Mrs Gladys Mpemba said they saw the need to do something for charity apart from helping themselves as a foundation to achieve their goals. They donated groceries and clothes worth $2 000.

The administrator of the home Ms Anita Dick said they were grateful for the help they constantly receive from the organisations. Sunday News
