- Walter Mswazie in Masvingo

CHIVI Central representative in the National Assembly, Cde Ephraim Gwanongodza has partnered with villagers to build a community hall worth more than $60 000 at Chishavakadzi Secondary School.

The project which is in Ward 21, has taken off and is expected to be completed before the end of the year. Cde Gwanongodza said the project, which is one of a number of initiatives where he has partnered with the community, will go a long way in providing a convenient venue for meetings.

“I have partnered with the villagers in Ward 21 to construct a community hall near Chishavakadzi Secondary School. According to the valuation, the hall will cost more than $60 000,” said Cde Gwanongodza.

He hailed the villagers for supporting developmental initiatives in the community.

“I am happy that in my constituency I have people who are developmental oriented. I have donated material for the construction work but the bricks and labour comes from the community. We expect the project to be completed before year end,” he said.

A villager from Ward 21 Mr Terence Mangava said the hall will help communities when they gather for meetings.

“We will not gather under trees for our meetings. The hall will help us in a big way as our MP has also suggested that we also make it one of our income generating projects. We will hire it out to churches and those who are holding private functions,” he said.

Mr Mangava said the same partnership has also seen the rehabilitation of boreholes, bridges and irrigation schemes in the drought prone area.

“This project is just but one of many initiatives in this Ward. We have rehabilitated bridges, irrigation schemes and sunk boreholes with the help our MP,” he said.
