IN a bid to raise funds for the Ebenezer Trust Home, the Rotaract Club of Bulawayo is hosting a colour run event at the Heath Streak academy on 23 September.

The colour run is set to be a family fun day whereby several activities are going to take place including the main colour run event.

One of the organisers of the Colour Run, Pauline Mkandhla, said they have been working closely with Ebenezer Home Trust for the past two years, as a result they have decided to raise funds for the Trust.

“Since 2015, we have been working with the Ebenezer Trust Home in an effort to maintain it as a neighbourhood welfare structure. The Ebenezer Trust Home began operating as a soup kitchen, which we would support primarily by buying ingredients for the bi-weekly soup distribution, but also by participating in making the soup.

“This event will be a great opportunity for our community to come together and enjoy some family fun while raising money. A percentage of the proceeds will go to Ebenezer Trust,” said Mkandhla.

Besides Ebenezer Trust being a soup kitchen, Mkandhla added that the institution was evolving into an educational centre therefore the need to raise more funds to meet new demands.

“The home has since evolved into an educational and social assistance centre for children in Thorngrove, Nguboyenja, and Burombo Flats. We have continued to support them with donations of clothing, and a commitment to build a play centre or the children on the premises.

“Therefore our vision is to turn the Colour Run into an annual event to help develop many charities in and around Bulawayo every year,” she said.

She added that tickets for the Colour Run are already available at $3 for kids under 12 years which come with a hamper and $5 per adult ticket and 100g colour powder for free.
