-

A 54-YEAR-OLD man from Esigodini, Matabeleland South province was found dead at the house of Esigodini Councillor Shumirai Nkiwane’s house after they allegedly had a misunderstanding on Friday.

Matabeleland South police spokesman Inspector Philisani Ndebele could not be reached for comment but Clr Nkiwane confirmed the incident. Evans Nare from Sigola Village, Esigodini was found hanging inside Clr Nkiwane’s house in the wee hours of the morning.

“I was the one who found the deceased’s body hanging inside my house at around 3.30am and I informed other villagers,” said Clr Nkiwane.

She said she did not have details as to what led to his death and she was in no position to comment because she was grieving one of his workers.

Clr Nkiwane said: “Most of the people that I work with stay in my house and Nare was one of my employees hence he stayed in my house.”

Council chairman, Councillor Dojiwe Sigola, said what happened was unfortunate especially since the incident happened at the councillor’s house.

“I was informed about the matter by Councillor Nkiwane on Friday at around 4am. I went there to see what was happening, when I arrived there Nare was already dead,” he said.

Sunday News managed to talk to some of the workers who worked with the deceased. Some workers said the late had an argument with Clr Nkiwane the previous night.

“On Thursday we heard the two shouting at each other but we could not hear what they were saying. We are also aware that the two were having an affair. We do not know what led to his death,” claimed one worker.

Clr Nkiwane could neither confirm nor deny the allegations of having an affair with Nare.

“That is my private life and I don’t talk about my private life. At the moment I am grieving Nare, for more details you can call later,” she said.
