A GWANDA woman has dragged her stepson to court seeking a protection order after accusing him of harassing her.

Ms Priscilla Ncube (58) said her stepson, Joseph Ngwenya (26) was allegedly also in a habit of facilitating his father’s visits to a woman he was having an extra-marital affair with. Ms Ncube said Ngwenya was trying to get her evicted from her matrimonial home.

“I have been married to my husband for the past 15 years and my stepson is now giving me problems just because he wants access to the property which I bought with his father. He is constantly insulting me and telling me that I’m not his biological mother and that I don’t belong to the family.

“He takes my property from my homestead and uses it without my permission. Whenever I confront him over his behaviour he threatens to beat me up.

“His father is having an extra-marital affair with another woman and my stepson is the one who takes him to that homestead in a scotch cart where he spends some days and he goes back to collect him,” said Ms Ncube.

She said she engaged relatives and the community leaders over the issue but her efforts had been fruitless.

Ms Ncube said her stepson wanted access to livestock and a scotch cart which she bought with her husband.

In response Ngwenya denied harassing his stepmother. He said he regarded her as his biological mother as she had raised him. He also said he was not facilitating his father’s affair but was only following his father’s instructions.

Gwanda magistrate, Mr Obedience Matare who presided over the matter granted Ms Ncube’s protection order. He warned Ngwenya against insulting, threatening or assaulting his stepmother.
