Hugh Beadle clinch inter-schools cluster competitio­n

THE Victoria Falls schools cluster under Bulawayo’s Reigate District on Friday selected a 65-member strong squad to represent the cluster at the district finals set for Thursday at SOS Herman Gmeiner School in the city.

e inter-schools competitio­n saw the host school, Hugh Beadle walk away on top of the medals table as they 18 gold, 18 silver and 14 bronze, second was Newmansfor­d after amassing 16 gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze while Baines Junior took third place with 15 gold, 17 silver and 19 bronze.

The competitio­n saw three other schools, SOS, Aisbley and Trenance, fight it out for the right to represent the province at the district finals.

Head-in-charge of the cluster, Saraphina Zengeya said they were happy with the performanc­e of the athletes and hopes to see more of their pupils progressin­g to represent the district at the inter-district finals scheduled for White City next month.

“I am happy with the competitio­n that I saw. I am confident we are will be sending a strong team to the inter-clusters in Thursday.

We have selected 65 athletes in both track and field events to be part of the cluster’s team while for physical education we have nominated 16 pupils.

There is a spirit of good competitio­n and I am hopeful we will do well and progress to the interdistr­ict,” she said.

The competitio­n involved under-12, under-13 and under-14 age groups. The inter-district finals have been set for 6, 7, 8 and 9 March at White City,
