IPMZ urges managers to be innovative
HUMAN resources practitioners have been encouraged to ensure that there is fusion of different cultures at workplaces, as the country is moving ahead implementing programmes of economic transformation under the new dispensation.
Institute of People Management of Zimbabwe (IPMZ) vice-president Mr Edward Chisi said investing in different languages and cultivating cultures was crucial especially now that Zimbabwe is open for business, meaning that there are high chances that foreign companies and individuals will come to invest in the country.
Mr Chisi, who was the guest of honour at the Matabeleland region graduation ceremony held in Bulawayo last week said managers must also start being innovative.
The graduation saw 48 students receiving diploma certificates.
“Let us call upon managers to account and justify their huge pay cheques. Let us advocate for performance based contract of employment. You need to protect the organisation’s memory by keeping the best employees. HR will be the stabilising agent as Zimbabwe opens for business,” he said.
Mr Chisi also said corrupt and incompetent practitioners will be de-registered, as they are pursuing an HR Practitioners Bill in Parliament, which seeks to ensure that employees are in good hands.
