Can ExQ breathe life into Military Touch?

- Bhekumuzi Ncube Sunday Life Reporter

WHEN Jah Prayzah founded the Military Touch Movement (MTM) last year, scores of entertainment lovers thought the label will become one of the greatest music stables in the history of Zimbabwe as it boasted of thriving artistes that include Tahle Wedzinza, ExQ and Nutty O.

However, a year since the label was formed; the label seems to be facing a difficult challenge holding up its prime artistes from quitting the label.

Andy Muridzo is one Military Touch artiste who has publicly accused the label of supporting Jah Prayzah more than other artistes and was reportedly desperate to terminate the five-year contract with the label.

The dreadlocked Muridzo, whose music has often been compared with Jah Prayzah’s, first showed signs of unhappiness when he told a local radio station that he was not happy at MTM last year. It is this burning controversy that could crash the MTM plane that was promising to fly across the world.

However, another talented MTM artiste Enock Munhenga aka ExQ might breathe in some required fresh air and save the face of the label when he drops his anticipated album dubbed Tseu Tseu on 14 April.

The album launch will feature top artistes namely DJ Tamuka, Jah Prayzah, Tahle and Nutty O all from MTM as well as thriving Zimbabwean DJ, DJ Stavo.

The exclusion of Muridzo in the list of performers shows that MTM has really cut ties with the singer, and the likes of ExQ and the rest of the team is okay with it.

The lively and energetic performer, ExQ has hits that have earned him a place in the country’s top music superstars. One of his stand-out offerings includes Bhachura with song bird Ammara and Nhema featuring Killer T.

ExQ has been a busy artiste and he recently performed alongside Tocky Vibes and Stunner in a Southern Africa Music Concert dubbed Zim Connect 18 in London.

He said the album launch is going to be spectacular as preparations were in full swing and the team was astounded with the reception and hype towards the album launch.

“Preparations are moving swiftly and as planned. We have a nice and dedicated team and all supporting acts have confirmed to be part of the launch.

The response and anticipation is so overwhelming on our social media platforms and we hope people will come and enjoy with us. We promise fans an unforgettable night of brand new songs,” he said.

It seems April might become the Nhema hit maker’s best month as he will also share the stage with Nigerian’s top male superstar, Davido who will be in Zimbabwe alongside South Africa’s gorgeous Boity Thulo.

He said performing alongside the hit maker is a dream come true.

“It’s always an honour to be locally recognised and to be sharing the stage with one of Africa’s best. We promise to raise the bar and meet the expectations.

“The band is now in camp rehearsing for the day and ready to electrify the stage with a combination of my dancers,” he added. If
