Be hungry for success — all the time!

-

THE shocking truth about success is that most people give up after first or second try. If you don’t succeed even up to the fifth time it is important to just stick around a little longer. Learn what you did wrong. If need be, change your approach a bit. In the end you place success in your bag and the patchy past becomes history! In this instalment we try to address frequently asked questions so that we allow the reader to make informed decisions about her/his future.

What programmes do you have for your children as schools close next week on 9 April to 4 May 2018?

As schools close next week, Trust Academy High School would like to encourage students to create a strong reading and studying culture. We have designed holiday revision classes for all levels which include ZJC, O-level and A-level. We are also appealing to parents and guardians to send their children to Trust Academy holiday school so that they improve their grades and excel in their studies.

Is education a worthwhile investment in the current environment?

As Trust Academy High School (TAHS) we strongly believe that education is a worthwhile investment and whoever does so is entitled to a fair return. It is education that can turn the son of a villager into an international employee. Trust Academy encourages career oriented education. In other words there must be synergy or agreement between what a learner is learning at school and what the same person aspires to be in life. For that reason Trust Academy invests a lot in career guidance and counselling so that both the child and the parent are properly advised about careers and jobs of the future so that a child’s employability is increased. It is a fact that old industries are disappearing while new industries are emerging. Emerging industries require new skills and competencies. This is the focus of Trust Academy.

What advice can you give to those students who want to pursue a career in Social Sciences?

Social Sciences address the way communities interact together as well as their environment. For those who want to pursue a career in social science, Trust Academy is offering subjects at O-level and Alevel which include Media Studies, Environmental Sciences, Travel and Tourism, Sociology, Psychology and Child Development. This is in response to the widespread need for humanitarian need and environmental awareness. The learners should be fluidic to the demands of the external environment from school. Trust Academy assures you achievement, of your career prospects by offering these Social Science subjects.

Tell us more about the Trust Academy High School educational offer?

Trust Academy High School has a wide curriculum that cuts across sciences, commercials, arts and humanities. The curriculum offers tuition that prepares students for both Zimsec and Cambridge examinations. At the centre of this academic curriculum are key subjects like Mathematics, English Language and Science at O-level. A sound grounding in Mathematics helps to provide analytic skills, logical skills and numerical reasoning. Also at the centre of the curriculum are science subjects that give students the tools to analyse, investigate their environment and to experiment skills that are essential for technological progress. As the institution we are currently preparing the students for all the subjects. It is Trust Academy High School’s desire to build and nurture a complete person who can effectively function in society and industry and commerce in the global village.

How does Trust Academy High School address the issue of Information and Communication technologies (ICT)

The role of ICT in everyday life is becoming increasingly important as they allow us to develop new approaches to learning, life, work, consumption and leisure. The new curriculum also encourages research and data analysis through the use of ICTs. An appreciation of these skills means increased productivity and research and data analysis is made easier. Students are therefore encouraged to take computer skills courses for better advancement in this changing environment. The world is simply at Quaternary stage of production and this is where Zimbabwe and other third world countries are heading.

Tell us more about Trust Academy High School’s offer for Supplementary Revision Classes

In as much as the body need supplements in order to function properly, learners need the supplementary approach to learning. This type of approach focuses on the learner and problematic areas. Trust Academy High School has designed supplementary classes to address challenging areas. What is the importance of one-on-one lessons? Each learner has unique challenges. Some challenges may be missed during a class set up. Our one-on-one classes ensures that the learner is given undivided attention. The teacher identifies the individual student’s needs and delivers tuition designed to cater for those special needs. In a one-on-one setup strengths and weaknesses are addressed thoroughly. Why there is need for family support for learning? Family groupings are influential in the development of an individual. This is where values, morals and ethical conduct are imparted. In the same manner, when a student joins an educational institution, the school plays the loco parentis role. Trust Academy High School values working closely with parents to ensure that the performance of the children is monitored from both home and school. Furthermore, the school believes that where students are adequately monitored, learning problems are easily identified and hence take appropriate remedial measures where necessary. We strongly believe that consistent parental involvement leads to improved communication and relations between parents, teachers and administrators. TAHS encourages parents to be courteous enough to advise the school if their child is unable to attend classes. In addition parents are invited to share with the school head from the point of enrolling if there are any conditions about the child that the school must be advised of. This is because the school expects compulsory attendance to lessons as well as co-curricular activities. What is the role of the learner in learning? The production process involves parties working in sync to produce a desired output. In the learning process the desired output is excellent grades. It is therefore important that the learner plays his/her role effectively. Instead of delegating the learning role to the teacher, the learner is encouraged to do his due diligence and study, research as well as consulting the teacher in problematic areas. This starts with regular school and lesson attendance, reading, revising and doing all assigned work. Our teachers dutifully implement the quality assurance role at all times so that the final student (or throughput) qualifies to enrol for the desired degree or professional diploma. Failure should never be an option!
