PSL should consider free entrance for minors

Chicken Inn vs Dynamos B/Fields 17.03.18 Uninspiring game LET me start with the warm-up as per rules and regulations of PSL, teams are supposed to warm-up in their own half.

But we still have teams violating this rule encroaching into the opposing team half. Dynamos players did this on the match day. I think it’s time for PSL to take disciplinary measures on this. Coming to the game I did not expect this kind of unaspiring performance from both teams.

When considering the technique in passing, which is the basic tool of playing football especially if it’s from the top clubs in the league, failing to come up with five complete passes for the entire 90 minutes of the game is not good at all.

They were 70 long high passes which never reached the intended destination, 37 for Chicken Inn and 33 for Dynamos. I would like to say this to the coaches and players, if God wanted football to be played in the sky he could have put some grass over there.

All these passes were by-passing the midfield. Both teams were scared to start some moves from the back. After saying this let’s talk about the positives in this game especially the defence work on both teams.

The winning of tussles on one versus one situations from both teams’ defenders was very good hence the score line was slim. For midfield play there was little activity because of what I said earlier the by-passing of the area.

As for attack, without creativity coming from the midfield players, it becomes difficult to create scoring opportunities hence there was no shots on targets to talk about besides Obadiah Tarumbwa and with a bit of precision he could have grabbed a hat trick.

As for Dynamos attack I only remember one shot on target for the entire 90 minutes. The aggression Dynamos players showed in the last 15 minutes, if they had done this in the first half with a bit of luck they could have scrapped a point in this game. Highlanders vs Black Rhinos B/Fields 18.03.18 Interesting game I say interesting game because the spectators saw three beautiful goals and spectators had the reason to stand up and salute the players.

The Highlanders first goal reminded me of Highlanders legend Tito Paketh. The art of dribbling which is a tactic on its own of eliminating opponents which was executed by Nigel Makumbe in a confined area finishing off with a small chip to the far post for his team-mate player to nod home. This is what brings back the spectators to the stadium the following week.

The second goal was something else. Again Nigel was the main actor assisting Gabriel Nyoni. If Gabriel had missed this chance personally I was going to ask Madinda Ndlovu (coach) to sit him on the substitute bench the following week.

If Highlanders can start moves from the back and make use of the ball players with the player they have, they will do so much damage to their opponents unlike pumping high balls to the lone striker where midfield players take too long to give support.

To to be exact they had 30 of these long passes the “whom it may concern Sir or Madam type of passes”. As for Black Rhinos, I think they will perform well this season from what I saw in this game.

The short passes and exchanges in the midfield was so neat. With this kind of construction you always create scoring opportunities which they did, but poor finish denied them a couple of goals. The goal they got from a free kick was a master piece.

Free admission I would like to appeal to PSL and Zifa Boards to let in boys and girls who are under 15 years of age to get into the stadiums free of charge. With this I think we will be able to see or realise future good players in the next five years. We will also be taking away crime within the communities. Children watch actions, they don’t listen to words.

This will be another avenue of talent discovery. How many times do we see kids guarding cars outside the stadium because they cannot afford to pay to get in the stadium?

So please Mr Kenny Ndebele and Zifa CEO take this suggestion to your respective boards. Wishing you a good season of football Until next week Feedback: zulucosmas@gmail.com/ Cell: 0773 842 671
