Zimbabwe National Army holds fun shoot

SHOOTING enthusiasts will this Saturday get the chance to engage in the sport when the Executive Interaction Initiative (EII) Bulawayo Chapter holds fun shoot at Imbizo Gallery Range (Lookout Masuku Barracks).

The event will see shooters taking part in events that include pistols, AK 47 (100m and 200m), Falling Plates and PK Machine Gun. EII chairman, Jabu Nkomo confirmed they would be hosting their first shoot of the year, adding they have lined up two more events before the end of the year.

He said they are expecting between 150 and 200 people but would be ready to accommodate more numbers. Nkomo said they are working with several companies to ensure the event is a success.

“Shooting has for long been a preserve of white people but we want to use events such as this one to demystify the gun and encourage people from all walks of life to join us on the day. People may be scared of guns but we would like to assure the public it is done under a safe environment. Young shooters are also welcome as we want to catch them young and teach them to become the best as they grow,” he said.

Nkomo said it will be a “perfect” family fun-filled day with a jumping castle, music, braai and a full bar. He said urged the public to come in their numbers to engage in something different.

ZNA Commander Bulawayo District, Colonel Rantham Moyo, is the EII deputy patron.

The event is used to raise money for the Zimbabwe National Army Charities throughout the country some of which take care of widows and orphans.

The EII is also used to bridge the gap between members of the ZNA and civilians as they get to meet in a relaxed environment allowing business people and army officers a chance to interact and exchange ideas on various issues affecting the country.
