Makanda to make Bosso debut

-

HIGHLANDERS have enlisted the services of former How Mine striker, Tinashe Makanda as they seek to find a new formula and overturn their woeful conversion rate.

Technical manager, Madinda Ndlovu said Makanda’s availability for selection will be determined by the finalisation of his registration with the Premier Soccer League.

Makanda was offloaded by South Africa’s Stellenbosch FC in May and has been training with Highlanders for the past three weeks.

Ndlovu lauded Makanda saying he has been showing signs of hunger at training and was eager to see him in action on the field.

“We are quite excited by qualities that we have seen in him and believe he can bring a different dimension to our game. He has great mobility and has shown great hunger for goal and with age on his side we are eager to see what he can bring to us,” he said.

Khathazile, as Ndlovu was known during his playing days, said their failure to score has been worrying them and they will be looking to remedy their blunt strike force during the midseason window period.

Ndlovu said they are likely to recall attacking midfielder, Denzel Khumalo, who was offloaded to Bosso’s development side, Bosso90 at the beginning of the year.

He said they have been impressed by his meteoric improvement in the first half of the season and feel he should be competing for a place in the senior team.

“We moved him to the Division One side as we thought he was lacking in other aspects of his game and we have been looking at him with a critical eye and he has exhibited great improvement hence we are considering recalling him to the first team.

“We believe he deserves a chance to be fighting for a jersey in the senior side. Remember when we look at a player we don’t only consider how he is doing on the field but also social behaviour, time keeping and how he conducts himself in other areas,” added Ndlovu.
