Delightful décor: green with envy

-

AS any decorators will tell you, colour makes a room — but only when chosen correctly. Green is usually associated with nature, it gives your home a sense of calm, fresh and serene atmosphere which most homeowners desire.

Revamp your space with shades of green inspired by tropics. With so many decisions, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, so here are some tips on using green to create a tropical paradise in your home.

The good thing with using green is that there are different natural items that you can use instead of just using paint.

For a cool tropical touch adorn your couch with island inspired scatter cushions. You can either have plain green scatter cushions or mix green with another colour, for example white and green leaf print scatter cushions can turn your lounge into a tropical paradise. The colour and type of your couch will determine the colours to use . . . do not just select any cushions or colours.

Imagine how great your lounge will look if you have a white big couch with one plain green or green and white leaf-print scatter cushion and two white cushions. That will be the first thing that will grab people’s attention when they walk into the room, hence making it a focal point . . . which means one less thing to worry about.

It can be overwhelming to unify different colours in your home. Green looks very nice on bright background such as light yellow or white (kitchen cabinets and walls). Dark brown, green and black colours are great also.

Use nature to show the perfectness of green. Place tall house plants near plain walls. Tall and slim green house plants visually raise a kitchen ceiling; they make your home look larger while short spreading green indoor plants in hanging flowerpots bring a kitchen ceiling lower. These are not recommended for small kitchen interiors.

Also, small patterns on wallpaper or curtain fabric look great with small green house plants leaves.

Glass pots come in different sizes and colours. To give your space an aesthetic look select transparent glass pots, fill them with water or soil and plant flowers. To make your decor look more stylish, match colours of your house plant pots and plant flowers with interior design colours and your kitchen decor, — the walls, curtains and furniture upholstery.
