Thembaleth­u Foundation praised for women’s soccer support

THEMBALETH­U Southern Region Women Soccer League vice-chairperso­n Catherine Mavada has commended the progress of the league.

Mavada said despite the teams facing problems such as transport money, clubs have put in extra efforts towards fulfilling fixtures.

“The league is running smoothly, a lot of teams have managed to fulfil their matches despite facing problems such as transport costs, we have managed to register all the players and the games are being officiated by qualified referees,” she said.

Mavada went on to thank main sponsors Thembaleth­u Foundation for their tiresome work of improving the living conditions of the girl child in Zimbabwe through sport.

“I would like to thank Thembaleth­u Foundation for supporting the girl child through sport, a lot of lives have been changed by this league and it is within my greatest hopes that they continue changing the lives of the people of Zimbabwe,” said Mavada.

Magwegwe Stars and ZRP Bulawayo top the log with 10 points each having played four games. Magwegwe Stars hold the bragging rights of being on top of the log due to their superior goal difference and third on the log with nine points is the team of the moment Inline Academy who have managed to win all their three games. Ubuntu and Blackboots Queens are rooted at the bottom of the log, having lost all their games they have played so far.
