Is makeup that BAD?

-

EVERYTHING in the beauty/ cosmetics industry has some pros and cons, so as the products which we use have several benefits to our skin have. The cosmetics industry is there to help us women; enhance our looks, look much more beautiful, elegant and stylish. However, no one wants to talk about the downside and disadvantages of using makeup. The trend of late are photoshoots, which require bomb makeup as well as functions. Women are paying more attention to makeup.

It is true that beauty products are helpful in attaining beauty and charm, but it is also correct that there are many side effects that may result with the regular use of these. The biggest among these faults is the skin and health problems that may also result in cancer.

Skin infection is one of the biggest skin issues where a person has to suffer from irritation and allergies which is very painful. If you are suffering from a skin infection, then you may have red marks all over the skin, which causes even more irritation when you go outside the house and the body is exposed to sun and pollution.

This infection may be naturally caused by hormonal disorder, but mainly it occurs when the chemicals in the cosmetics and makeup do not suit the skin and affects them badly by damaging the cells of the skin.

Excess use of chemical induced products causes early ageing and the symptoms of ageing like fine lines and wrinkles starts appearing at a young age.

Damage to internal organs

Many people think that makeup and cosmetics are applied on the upper layer of the skin and if any side effect is caused then only the top layer of the skin is affected. But you should not forget that there are uncountable pores which are present on the skin, which helps the skin to respire and excrete waste from the body in the form of sweat.

The chemicals present in these products seeps into the bloodstream from these pores and attacks the internal organs slowly. These can be deadly because they may completely damage the organ.

The chemicals of these products are so harmful that they may cause severe skin disease like cancer. Mercury and parabens is a chemical used as preservatives in many beauty brands, but these chemicals may cause cancer. Parabens are added to the products to inhibit bacteria, but actually, this chemical triggers the growth of cancer cells in the body.

If the skin of a person does not have enough capacity to retain the attack of the chemicals on the skin, then the symptoms can be easily noticed on the skin in the form of skin problems, including acne and pimples. Researchers say that 30 percent patients with acne and pimples are infected due to heavy use of chemical loaded skin products.

Damage to the nervous system

It is not known to many that the nervous system of a human is also attacked by the utilisation of results of excessive usage. The makeup products like lipsticks, kajal and eyeshadows have contents, including lead, carcinogen and neurotoxin that can affect the nervous system so badly that it may cause high blood pressure and other behavioural abnormalities.

Eye makeup is used extensively even by women who don’t use heavy makeup. But it’s important to remember that your eyes and the skin around them is the most sensitive area of your face. Layers of eye makeup can be damaging to your eyes as it also slips into your eyes through the corners, causing irritation. Too much mascara and eyeliner inhibits the growth of eyelashes and also becomes a breeding ground for bacteria

which could lead to irritations and infections.

Skin products like sunscreens, moisturisers, toners, and creams contain agents that bleach or darken the skin. Cosmetic products that use poor quality ingredients which have not been regulated can lead to skin discolouration. The effect could be patches, pigmentation, uneven skin tone, redness, and freckles. Though your skin is meant to protect you, it is also very sensitive and needs to be treated with care. So avoid using chemical products for your daily skincare routine.

Looking attractive by applying makeup is important because if we feel good about ourselves we exude self-confidence. When people tell us that we look amazing and give us compliments that we did our makeup well or that we are dressed well, it raises our self-esteem. If we make applying makeup a habit, our confidence will be boosted greatly and we feel good about ourselves.

Applying makeup is an art, and like any art, it is fun to express who we are as we explore our creative skills. Putting makeup on your face is like painting a canvas and creating a beautiful masterpiece. Your makeup tools are your paintbrushes, and your eyeshadows, concealers, and lipsticks are the colourful palettes.

However, be careful and do some research on the products you are using. Take good care of your skin; let it breathe. -Additional information from Online sources.
