Body Works Gym women triumph
BODY Works Gym are celebrating yet another national conquest after their women’s team triumphed at the National Fitness Challenge Boot Camp at Victoria Primary School in Masvingo last Saturday.
Led by Memory Madyara, the Body Works Gym women defeated six other teams at the competition hosted by Thompson Fitness. Body Works Gym were one of the two teams from Bulawayo, with three coming from Harare, Masvingo were represented by two sides while Kadoma had one. The Ricky Tembo-coached team had to prove why they are fittest of them all when they featured in 10 different challenges of which every one of them were team building events.
Madyara described the competition as being not easy but she was delighted that they came out as the top team.
“We are excited as a team representing our gym and other fitness teams here in Bulawayo who didn’t make it this year to Thomson Boot Camp. It wasn’t easy as a captain but I am happy we made it,’’ Madyara said.
She believes that strength, fitness training and team spirit working together is what carried the day for them in Masvingo.
A team of 15 women and Tembo made the trip to Masvingo. Body Works Gym played their part by providing the women with T-shirts, a dedicated coach and some refreshments during their training and equipment to use in their outdoor fine tuning.
“The ladies worked well together and our preparations were on point, thanks to Nathan Greenland and Body Works Gym for letting us use the gym and other equipment we used for our outdoor training,’’ Tembo said.
Nathan Greenland, the Body Works Gym director described the women’s team as an inspiration with the amount of hard work that they put into their training sessions. Greenland said they are dedicating this year’s accolade to the women’s former captain, Daphne Zinyama who passed away in March this year.
“Body Works is very impressed with our ladies boot camp team, they are the true core, these ladies motivate us with all the effort they put in. This is the second time that they have won this competition and we dedicate it to our former captain Daphne who sadly passed away,’’ Greenland said.
Body Works Gym won the same competition in 2016 but did not take part last year with Team Bulawayo ensuring that the title still came to the City of Kings in 2017.
