- Mandla Moyo Sports Reporter

NOMINEES for the Champion Fillies race slated for 18 November at Borrowdale Racecourse have been released.

Mashonaland Turf Club have sent out a list of six nominees each vying for a place at this year’s edition of the Champion Fillies race.

The event which has a declared stake money of $8 000 will be contested over 1 800m by a field yet to be determined. If all the stakes for the minor races are added together they sum up to $50 000.

From this lean field of horses the highest rated runner is Simona rated 90, trained by Bridged Stidolp.

If this runner makes it through all the necessary pre-race stages into final list she will definitely be the one to keep an eye on by any serious punter. The second best placed entry is Mia Finola, another one by Stidolp who is rated a decent 81.

In addition to these entries are Solinski and In the Mood from the yard of the veteran trainer Kirk Swanson.

From the yard of trainer Penny Fish are two lowly rated nominees Betula Uber and Hillar complete the field.

On the race day six more supporting acts will be held and a combined total of seventy entries are competing for places.

The next stage is the weight and draws stage which will follow soon. After the weight and draws qualifying stage jockeys will be declared and Mash Turf Club will print the race card paving way for the punters to start searching for their ideal winners while the connections will return to the stables for final touch ups waiting for the race day.
