Byo Social League race hots up

- Mandla Moyo Sports Reporter

STARS FC are not yet in the mood to take their foot off the accelerator pedal even though they have broken the tape in their respective pool.

In fulfillment of a declaration made by their secretary general Linda Bhebhe last week on the need to remain on the offensive, they came out with their games blazing last Sunday.

Their victims were Mthala, home to former Bosso great Douglas British Mloyi whom they thumped 7-1. Stars FC’s nearest rivals, Man U are still on course for a second-place finish after sharing the spoils with Funda as a result of a 3-3 deadlock.

The most successful BSLL team with seven successive league crowns under their belt 70 Combination still have an outside chance of gatecrashing into that position too. Last Sunday they kept that hope alive after winning 4-2 against Patapata.

In pool B, log leaders Skippers registered another motivating result after walloping Wembley 6-2 to take their points haul to 107.

Another contender to the throne Mayihlome were 3-0 winners over Gwabalanda to keep the pressure on the log leaders.

Real Magwegwe saw those dreams take a swerve towards oblivion after going down 4-1 against Lobels.

Meanwhile the league has since advised through a letter written by the fixtures secretary Edson Sibanda that action will end on 21 December while any changes will be communicated in time.

“Beloved brothers, sisters or respected councilors of BSSL, you are officially informed that BSSL fixtures program will end on Saturday 21 December 2019.

“On Monday 23 December being a public holiday, the league will host Champion of Champions at Desert, Njube. As of now the league program will continue as usual, any changes to it changes will only be made on the last games of the fixture which will be Saturday,” said Sibanda.
