Leave Andy Muridzo alone

-

EDITOR — Many Zimbabweans have rushed to criticise singer Andy Muridzo for allegedly “impregnating” fellow entertainer and dancer Beverly Sibanda.

Some have gone as far as condemning his actions on social media and urging him to go for an HIV test. This shows the saddening stereotyping the Zimbabwean society has become.

If someone is a dancer, they are seen as a plague to society with nasty sexually transmitted infections. That is not always the case because Bev is no different from any woman walking on the streets of Harare if not better.

A person’s job is their choice and perception should not be treated as fact. What was questionable is the fact that Andy engaged in an extra-marital affair — the “with who” part is not of importance.

Bev is a mother and what would her son think when his mother is openly chided on social media? Women need to be sensible; Bev did not cheat on anyone while Andy Muridzo on the other hand has another case to answer.

Zimbabwean women should do away with covering up for promiscuous man and make them own up to their infidelities. Besides that, Andy’s spouse has indicated that she is now past it so I don’t really see where the problem is.

This serves as a lesson to other artistes because some sexual engagements will be misinterpreted.
