Fashionista to showcase in London:
Talented designer Tafadzwa Moyo is set to showcase his works at the International Fashion Showcase (IFS) 2017 in London next month.
THE exhibition, which will take place at Somerset House in the United Kingdom will be the sixth edition of the annual showcase and forms a key part of the London Fashion Week Festival, giving the public the opportunity to celebrate fashion and its universal relevance.
Moyo, who is the creative director and head designer at Kidd Hunta, was chosen after the auditions which saw seven local designers contesting for the global exhibition.
Addressing journalists at a press conference hosted by the British Council at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe last week, Moyo said he was very happy to represent the country and lift its flag on an international stage.
“We are very excited as Kidd Hunta to have been chosen to represent the country at the International Fashion Showcase in London,” he said.
“It is unbelievable because to be part of the IFS coming from a small country is a great opportunity. The message we will convey is ‘brave hearts never fail’ because we never thought we would reach this far.
“The collection which I am going to showcase in London is amazing and was inspired by street vendors around Harare and it is called First Street,” said Moyo.
British Council Zimbabwe director Ms Sam Harvey said she was happy that for the first time since its inception IFS has a Zimbabwean showcasing his products.
“During the last quarter of 2016, we nominated seven exceptional Zimbabwean fashion designers following an open call for expressions of interest. It is with the utmost pleasure that Tafadzwa Moyo, from Kidd Hunta menswear clothing label, will be Zimbabwe’s first representative at IFS set for Somerset House in London.
“Tafadzwa will be exhibiting in the Next In Line category by Shonagh Marshall, Fashion Curator at Somerset House, together with 10 to 12 other designers from other countries as part of a group installation within the IFS,” Harvey said.
