I PROPOSE that Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) employees be audited because they have too many riches and most of their children attend some of the best schools in Zimbabwe. They spend so much money on their day-today business. They pay their interns $550 which is above a civil servant’s salary. We have many graduates who are vendors and many youths with degrees working at Ximex Mall, cleaners, guards who need jobs. — Tariro Karidzamimba, Harare.

*** Spare the rod and spoil the child! I see this as both a positive and negative thing, but I would rather discipline my child in their early stages of life than to leave a child become obnoxious till adulthood. This will create a society of difficult people. When I was growing up, only a stare from my mum or father would tell me that after the guests had gone, a thrashing was coming and I would like to say I grew up into a disciplined man. Excessive child- beating is wrong, but passive child-beating should be allowed as it is a form of discipline. — Hillary Mashanda, Harare.

*** While violence against one another can never be tolerated, it is imperative to analyse why certain nationalities are always considered as the main suspects when it comes to crime. I have stayed in more than a dozen countries both on the African continent and overseas and in all these countries, Nigerians are considered as champions of criminal activities, be it drug dealings, forgery, prostitution and cyber crime. It’s time Nigerians look at themselves too instead of crying foul all the time. — Mellisa Masaisai, Gweru.

*** The City of Harare should have better communication strategies. The water cut that has been going on all week came unexpected to many residents of Harare and we had no idea what the problem was until two or three days in. Council should make provisions to send residents SMS messages or other alert systems in a similar fashion to what the Civil Protection Unit ( CPU) has been doing. Water is an important resource and citizens need to be prepared in the event that it is not available. — Roger Samuriwo, Harare.

*** Zimbabweans must be wary of regime change machinations as we move towards elections in 2018. The EU and its Western partners will not tire until they achieve their goal. Let it be known that the goals of the revolution will not be reversed by enemies of the people’s revolution. The land will not be returned to the minority. — Mafirakureva, Mutare.
