CHILD prostitution has taken Zimbabwe by storm, leaving seasoned prostitutes with no “market”. Night spots and growth points are teeming with young girls who have joined the oldest profession. Where are the traditional aunts and church elders to counsel these wayward teens into “real children”. There is no future in flesh vending, despite transient challenges. Education remains the key to success. Some old harlots are now trooping back to the village to pick the pieces and carry on with life. Others have turned to vendors of fresh produce to feed their families. — Thomas Murisa, Harare.

*** These guys (opposition) are in politics for individual benefits, for money and freebies. For those without jobs, it’s a means of survival and for others gainfully employed or running successful businesses, it’s either greed or hunger for power or both. Otherwise why should well-educated and knowledgeable people publicly demonstrate such stupidity to the point of believing that if Government avails money to buy BVR equipment then the equipment would operate to favour certain outcomes? The opposition politicians are simply making themselves look and sound silly in public and it is this kind of behaviour that makes them lose elections. — Tatenda Musariri, Ruwa.

*** Definitely Command Agriculture is a success story. Exploring the length and breadth of Zimbabwe this season, one will realise that there are more positive stories to tell than what some people can imagine. It is important that Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has explained the concept of command farming. In no way does the term command in this case imply forcing anyone. This command focuses mainly on the command generation of resources, inputs, targets and more importantly, a focused and positive attitude. — Eunice Moyo, Bindura.

*** I know Zimbabwe is a Christian country with well-wishers and understanding people who are going to react to this sad story of Leonard Dembo’s mother. Yes, Leonard was a darling of many as his music had constructive messages. Zimbabweans, please let us assist Gogo Sukai who happens to be Leonard Dembo’s mother. — Chipo Mutasa, Harare.
