Increase in job prospects will boost economy

-

EDITOR — We want to applaud Government for making efforts to create employment for youths.

Yesterday’s Herald reported that Government-owned mobile operator NetOne had come up with a project which will create 20 000 jobs for youths.

Furthermore Government has partnered with Tongaat Hulett to create 10 000 more jobs through expanded sugarcane production.

The World Bank has warned Government that it is sitting on a time bomb due to the graduate unemployment situation in the country.

It is good to see the Government responding to the warning positively and urgently. The efforts of Government and the private sector in creating employment will also increase the quality of human capital in the long term.

The new measures being put forward by the Government will boost young people’s job prospects by helping them to be better prepared for the workplace and encouraging more businesses to open doors.

Though the state of the economy has drastically reduced both the Government and the private sector’s capacity to employ people, several interventions aimed at creating more jobs, as well as helping the private sector to expand and create job opportunities for the youth, have been initiated.

It is refreshing to know that this Government is empowering Zimbabwean youths and businesspeople to be more entrepreneurial and innovative through targeted policies and programmes.

The economy will expand in the years ahead leading to massive job creation and empowerment for all.

We hope the Government continues to collaborate with the private sector in this endeavour. Fadzayi Hove, Harare.
