ZIMBABWE must develop sustainable energy sources to cushion the economy from the devastating effects of power shortages. It is imperative that our policy makers look into the aspect of energy provision with an inclination towards establishing our own reliable energy sources. We have plenty of sunshine in Zimbabwe, so we should strive to have solar fields which can generate electricity for us. — Tonderai Harutsanye, Harare.

*** We should not be fooled into believing that Joice Mujuru and Morgan Tsvangirai could suddenly become our messiahs when they have already shown us that they are not. In fact, the two politicians have different egos that would make them fail to co- exist in the formation of that coalition if ever it is going to be formed. Rushing to other existing political parties as a way of having a supposedly strong support base from the electorate is a sign of political immaturity. — Thabiso Mpofu, Mutare.

*** I am disappointed with the number of vehicles that I see clamped within the Harare Central Business District. I am aware that council is on a drive to make money. Council should, however, consider that vehicle owners want to pay, but some parking attendant will not be available. The parking attendants should do their job diligently and stop playing around with other people’s hard- earned money. — Lovemore Tapfumanei, Harare.

*** We must not only pay lip service when it comes to honouring our national heroes, but rather respectfully salute them for the role they played during the liberation struggle. We should also honour villagers, some of whom suffered more than the ex-freedom fighters. These continue to face serious hardships in the post-independence era. — Patrick Muza, Harare.
