Response to “Auditor-General exposes rot at Zesa”

Thank God at least we have explanations, but it’s not all. A lot of oil has been stolen and residents have been asked to pay for the transformers after going for months without electricity with no explanation. That is plain robbery. Marlborough and Bluffhill residents have had enough and Zesa won’t even budge. That is daylight robbery. Government should do something; we pay for electricity that we don’t have. — Martina Kwenda.

*** Response to “ZACC fails to account for $735k”

How is it that the Anti-Corruption Commission is corrupt? This is unbelievable. Where is the moral compass of some people? How can we trust this institution to carry out its duties when it acts like this? I think the Auditor-General Mildred Chiri should be reassigned to ZACC because she at least has integrity. — Rosemary Moyo.

Thank you for a positive and enlightening story on progress and the costs of Kariba South Hydro. It is good to hear that by March next year the unit will be generating a rather cool 300MW. Add that to the original 750MW of hydro-electricity and Kariba will power Zimbabwe with 1 000MW of the world’s cheapest and cleanest power. — Chirorodziva.

*** On both sides of all our highways, there used to be a six-strand barbed wire fencing to prevent stray livestock from getting onto the highways. What happened to this noble and lifesaving practice? A number of accidents are caused by stray livestock and wildlife, exacerbated by speeding drivers who fail to see such animals. I urge the relevant authorities to seriously consider erecting such barriers to protect motorists and innocent travellers from avoidable accidents. On most highways, only fence posts are left, a testimony showing that such barriers were once there. Also, farmers must be made aware of the dangers of leaving their animals freely roaming about unattended. — Thomas Murisa, Harare.

Response to “Gen Chiwenga reads riot act”

I rightly agree with General Chiwenga. Enough is enough. The nutty professor is really going nuts. He has grown a tail and it needs to be cut at all costs. — Chamunorwa.

*** In a democracy ministers who criticise their principal resign from Cabinet and criticise from the back bench or from opposition. You can’t have it both ways as Jonso wants it. — Jones Musara.

*** Response to “Warriors Roar” Well done, good result. Mhofu says his objective is to give exposure to young players, I appreciate that, but then he picks Majarira whom I understand to be 28. Exposure yes, but young? Relatively I suppose. He could have picked a player like Leeroy Mavunga who is 18. — Lot Chitakasha.
