BU­L­AWAYO, 30 June 1917. — A meet­ing of the Rhode­sia’s Mu­ni­tions and Re­sources Com­mit­tee was held in the Town House, Bu­l­awayo, on Tuesday Mr J G Mc­Don­ald in the chair. There was a good at­ten­dance of mem­bers.

The Chair­man, who has just re­turned from the Con­fer­ence of the Sci­en­tific and Tech­ni­cal Gov­ern­ment Com­mit­tee of the Union, held in Jo­han­nes­burg, on July 10th, gave a short sum­mary of the his­tory of the com­mit­tee.

Deal­ing with the con­fer­ence, the Chair­man and that the fol­low­ing mat­ters were fully dis­cussed dur­ing the ses­sion: Nat­u­ral re­sources, in­dus­trial al­co­hol, fer­tiliser, eco­nomic plants and suit­able for South Africa and kelps and other sources of potash.

Sci­en­tific equip­ment and staff in the Union, in­sti­tu­tion and ac­cel­er­a­tion of cer­tain sur­veys, sta­tis­tics, in­dus­trial mu­seum, pub­li­ca­tion by Depart­ment of Agri­cul­ture of pop­u­lar ar­ti­cles, sug­gested ap­point­ment of maize ex­pert and ques­tion of soil sur­vey.
