UNITED STATES-BASED top amateur golfer Sean Crocker returned home and claimed the Chapman Grand Slam at Chapman on Sunday.

Crocker, the son of former Zimbabwe cricketer Gary Crocker, opened the tournament with a 72 and 69 on Saturday

The University of Southern Carolina Athletics student wrapped up the tournament with a round of 68 for a total nine-under 207.

The top amateur received a tournament invitation to play at European Tour’s BMW International Open, which attracts some of the world’s best professional golfers and he did well.

After marking his first appearance in a professional event since his Zimbabwe Open debut four years ago in which he won the best amateur prize, the young golfer is not looking back and said he was happy to be back home.

“I feel happy to be part of the Chapman Grand Slam, the event was competitive and I look forward to more events in future,” said Crocker.

He had competition from outgoing champion David Amm who finished second off his zero handicap.

Amm was playing in familiar territory and carded rounds of 79, 75 and 69 for a total 223.

Rasheed Mohamed was fourth after rounds of 76, 74 and 70 off his two handicap.

The tournament was graced by several United States-based golfers, including Stuart Krog.

Meanwhile, the Old Mutual Zimbabwe Ladies Golf strokeplay was won by Emily Jones at Royal Harare on Sunday.
