Auditor-General impressive
EDITOR — If there were accolades for hard-working Zimbabweans, I think Auditor-General Mrs Mildred Chiri would get one.
The way she has been laying out checks and balances for most public entities is impressive.
Not a week passes without a newspaper article highlighting one of her reports and the anomalies they expose.
It is my sincere wish that the relevant authorities follow up on her findings to ensure her efforts are not in vain.
I was happy when I heard that she will be going through Command Agriculture books. She is the right person to scrutinise transactions surrounding the programme, her record speaks for itself.
If there were any wrongdoings, the law should take its course.
If its implementation was aboveboard, the parties involved should be applauded and encouraged to keep up the good work.
Is there a way to interlink the Auditor-General’s office and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission so as to weed out other deep-rooted cases in parastatals as well as public bodies?
The Auditor-General has done well and her work ethic should be emulated by all departments. A results-based approach would yield high results for Zimbabwe even in the face of hardships. Garikai Nyangulu, Norton.
