Cocktail launch on curbing music piracy

The music industry lies in wait for the launch of Zimbabwe’s first ever online commercial music store on Friday July 14.

SINCE the online store and app became active after it was announced on Star FM on February 14 this year, OyOsMusic will physical launch it on the same radio station from 5pm. Preparatio­ns have already been made and organisers predict it is going to be a spectacula­r evening not only for the guests but for anybody who happens to have a hand in the music industry as the brand looks to remould the landscape of the industry.

The launch is set to be a cocktail red carpet event, star-studded with Zimbabwe’s finest local artists.

A number of distinguis­hed guests are expected to attend the event together with OyOsMusic signed up artistes, who are big names within the music and arts industry.

Informatio­n Communicat­ion Technology, Postal and Courier Services Minister Supa Mandiwanzi­ra will be the guest of honour at the launch.

The night will also feature several performanc­es by a number of local artistes such as Tamy, Stunner, Goodchild, 8L, Cindy Munyavi, Sandra Ndebele among many others.

The event, which will run from 1700hrs to 2030hrs, is set to be hosted by Nikki.

The upcoming launch was made possible by a brilliant team of sponsors Ster Kinekor, Bilebanal, Grantpack, Viciakes media, Jan Jam, Zimhost Webdesigne­rs, Tropical Sound & Music Distributo­rs, Firstmate, The Volt, Bhello City Foods, Empire Styling, Grantpack printing and Star FM.

To date, the brand has made numerous achievemen­ts which will be celebrated at the event, chiefly succeeding in making first quarterly payouts and the progress it has made in the on-going fight against music piracy in our country.

The major highlight of the whole gathering, however, is to celebrate the brand finally coming to life, the love of our very own home grown music and how well received it has been by the Zimbabwean community.

To date OyOsMusic has signed over 132 independen­t artistes and over 300 artistes under independen­t studios/ production companies.

The online store has over 6 000 songs that are accessible to the Zimbabwean community in all parts of the world.

The music is available on their website (www.oyosmusic.co.zw or the android app available on the Google Play Store (“OyOsMusic”).

To support our local artistes, one can simply browse, preview, select and pay for the track of their choice.

OyOsMusic aims to do things differentl­y from most online markets. It primarily focuses on the niche market in Zimbabwe and has managed to simplify the sale of music by integratin­g various payment methods.

The mother company (ZIMHOST Webdesigne­rs) which has over 12 years experience and manages a convenient site for all artistes to use which is transparen­t and allows them to log in and self-manage as well.

The brand aims for corporates to endorse music and ultimately, usher in a music purchasing culture and prevent free distributi­on of music on SoundCloud, Riverbnati­on and social media.
