Response to “Shock rise in road traffic accidents”

Not exactly shocking when roads are filled with potholes the size of my bathtub. Where exactly is the money from tollgates going? — Nandi Williams.

Response to “From rags to riches and back to rags”

I can remember singing along to the Paradzai Mesi song, “Tamirira mhinduro nazvino takangomirira.” We urge our music promoters to help these musicians especially the likes of Mesi and others in the sungura genre. This is the genre that we know. — Denford Given Pirikisi.

Those companies who may find it difficult to co-operate with Government’s ban on kaylite may take their business to Donald Trump’s America, the man who pulled out of the 2015 United Nations Climatic Change Conference Agreement in Paris recently. Our agro-based economy cannot be jeopardised by these polluters. — Cde Bla Max Boomerang.

*** Tough luck for our teams who went to Namibia. I hope they won’t be disheartened since we have a good opportunity to exact revenge in the return legs. — George Taumbwa, Harare.

*** People should take care of their health. I don’t think there are enough public service announcements on this. We must watch what we eat, exercise and keep our surroundings clean.

Some of these things we take for granted, we will end up paying the price with our lives if we are not careful. — Eddie Kuchena.

Response to “Shock rise in road traffic accidents”

Traffic cops must be licensed drivers preferably with a minimum of five years driving experience. That way they understand better the dynamics on the roads and would know what to look at.

Looking at some sticker on a 2015 Ford Ranger single cab or a 2010 Toyota Hilux being driven by a mature 45-yearold whilst a visibly unroadworthy Toyota Hiace being driven by a 24-year-old young man visibly high on something passes by is the height of irresponsibility.

Our road accidents are being caused by mushikashikas and kombis most of which are now owned by the cops. One effective roadblock is worth a thousand of these spike- wielding stops dotted around Zimbabwe. — Development Proponent.

Response to “GZU lecturer dies defending PhD thesis”

That is so sad. Academia is highly stressful and I hope the institution will still grant it to him posthumously. I also wonder if someone promptly administered CPR? Not that people will not die, but all I have read is that he was frothing. Might immediate intervention have helped? — Heya.

If I think about the song Nherera and Guruva l shed a tear. This man gave us powerful songs which strengthened us and gave us hope as we grew up in the rural areas. He inspired a lot and united the country through music. I think he deserves another chance. — Teddy Beto.
